FINA’s transgender ban ‘discriminatory’

The international swimming body’s controversial decision to ban trans athletes from competing against biological females is starting to impact on perceptions of the sport.

FINA’s scientific panel ruled that male puberty gives trans-athletes an advantage, with a policy stating that trans females must be transitioned before age 12. 

But many argue the ban is discriminatory and not based on science.
