Forget what you think you know about Gladstone. In this documentary, Hannah Dwan returns to her hometown to uncover the thriving environmentalist scene amidst the smokestacks.
“The aim of this project was to focus on the environmental efforts being made by local groups in the industry heavy town of Gladstone. I wanted to explore their efforts in the community and gauge how their work is received by the community. This is important as I already knew some of the preconceived notions prevalent about regional Queensland, and the interviewees expressed the same feeling, one that metro areas tend to view Gladstonites as ‘climate-deniers’ or people actively opposed to climate change action. This project wanted to draw attention do some to the true environmental work being done.”
