Australian Lawn Fanatics have broken a Guiness World Record for the greatest number of people mowing in one spot at the same time.
The event was held at GoTurf Queensland, a turf farm in Beerburrum on the Sunshine Coast and around 50 people turned up with their mowers – enough to break the world record.
Dallas Garton, co-founder of Australian Lawn Fanatics, said the event was organised to welcome Spring as well as a bit of a meet and greet for users of their Facebook page and an effort to raise money for two charities – Empower Golf and Queensland Cancer Council.
“We run a fairly large Facebook page that’s growing every day, it was our way of sort of celebrating the arrival of spring,” Mr Garton said.
“It’s just getting a day to get people together for a good meet and greet ’cause we all talk so much over the Lawn Fanatics page, we’ve all got a common interest and you get to put a face to the name,
“Everyone got out and supported it and chipped in with money here and there, we raffled off a couple of mowers to help raise funds for the two charities, [Empower Golf and Queensland Cancer Council] I haven’t got the figures on the money that we have for the charities but it’s going to be over $500 guaranteed.”

Approximately 200 people droveto the turf farm to either sponsor the event, run one of the sponsor stalls, spectate or mow.
“We got a lot of feedback on the page, people saying they were disappointed they couldn’t make it and that they are going to be there for the next one,” Mr Garton said.
Australian Lawn Fanatics are aiming to hold their next big event around March next year and hope for it to be even bigger and better.
