Therapy shouldn’t have to break the bank, but that’s the unfortunate reality for many young people in Australia. Despite Medicare rebates, mental health appointments are frequently costing over $200— and that rate is dependant on a GP referral, which alone costs over $100. We hear from clinical psychologist, Maxine Capner, on how easily these costs add up, and get first- hand accounts from several young Australians who hav been forced to forego therapy entirely.
