Fresh from a long break the acclaimed Australian singer songwriter was relaxed as he took to the stage under a single spotlight.

He chatted candidly to the fans that packed out the Grande and the adjacent hillside about his recent time in rehab, telling how he’d taken the past six months off to “get healthy, and to feel better”, as he flexed his muscles for the crowd.

“I’d like to thank my fiancee for helping me heal,” Dan told the crowd.

The performance was soulful and intimate with almost every song a lyrical recount of troubled journeys of love, loss and inner demons.

With his distinctive blend of rock, roots and blues, his presence filled the stage as he moved from guitar to piano and back.

The Melbourne based singer songwriter is an ARIA Music Awards nominee and winner of the Best Male Artist, Best Blue & Roots Album, Best Rock Album and Best Independent Release.

In 2015 he was also named joint artist of the year with Jessica Mauboy at the National Indigenous Music Awards.
