1029 Hot Tomato’s entire Breakfast Show has been listed as finalists for an Australian Commercial Radio Award (ACRA).
With the recent release of this quarter’s ratings, the Gold Coast’s number one radio station was able to hold their spot on top.
While the ratings at the station are pleasing for the team, the feeling has multiplied with the recent nomination of the entire breakfast team for an ACRA.
Award nomination break down:
Flan & Emily Jade with Christo – nominated for Best On-Air Team Provincial
Rebecca Dakin, Breakfast News Presenter – nominated for Best News Presenter Provincial
Toni Kipa, Breakfast Producer – nominated for Best Newcomer Off-Air
The station has also been nominated for Best Station Promotion and Best Achievement in Production.

It’s safe to say Dan Bradley, Hot Tomato’s Content Director, is stoked.
“The ACRA system makes it tough for independent stations like Hot Tomato to make the finals, let alone win, so to be finalists in 5 categories is a terrific achievement,” Mr Bradley said.
For Ms Kipa and Ms Dakin, these are their first nominations for ACRA awards and they’re over the moon!
“I’m super proud to have been nominated! To be listed amongst such talented people (including my breakfast team) is a real honour!

Toni Kipa, is one of the youngest Producers in the business at just 22 years old.
“Age has been somewhat of a barrier for me, people tend to raise eyebrows when you’re on the younger side of things. So, I’ve always worked hard to prove myself.”
“I first got into radio when I was 17, fresh out of high school and determined to make a career. I’ve spent just over five years in the industry and I still haven’t changed my mind. I guess, hard work pays off,” Ms Kipa said.
The 2017 ACRAS will be held on the 14th October at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
