The Fit and Fun Family Day event was held on Saturday the 16th September and aimed to inspire parents and their children to lead healthier lives.

Held at Pimpama Shopping Junction, the event had a range of stalls such as make your own fruit skewers, various fitness stalls, a petting zoo, samples, giveaways, and health checks.

Centre Manager, Jessica Boxsell said the idea came from the retailers at Pimpama Junction Shopping Centre, as they wanted to host a community-centred event.

“Retailers want to attract locals to visit the shopping centre and enjoy a fun day of activities that are focused on health and fitness,” Ms Boxsell said.

“Family life is increasingly becoming busier with less time for healthy eating and exercising and more focus on staying indoors using electronic devices, but being fit and healthy is something that all families can easily achieve.”

The Fit and Fun Family Day promoted many enjoyable activities and habits that any family can adopt.

Father of two, Glenn Cameron found the event informative and hopes there are more to come.

“It’s good to have events like this that are free and easy for families to get to,” Mr Cameron said.
