This year, the Broadbeach Country Music Festival was held on July 28-30 along the waterfront over three days of incredible free entertainment.

The festival combined the perfect mix of board shorts and surf boards alongside steel guitars and banjos.

Joanne De Rome reported on the event for Blank Magazine. She said the event really helps the community and the economy grow.

Festival goers, meant clubs, pubs and accommodation provers filled up over the weekend.

“It’s a whole community of like-minded people coming together to have a good time” Ms Rome said.

Not only is the festival helping tourism grow on the Gold Coast, it is quickly making a name for itself in the music industry as completely unique.

“This festival is my favorite, its where I feel most at home with all my familiar artists and music,’”continued miss Rome.

“Overall I would like to see it expand with a well sponsored talent quest that sees the top five perform on the main stage- which would bring families to the GC to support the contestants.”

The event even won the Silver Award at the 2016 Queensland Tourism Awards.

Having only been together for a year, Whistle Dixie were selected to perform at the prestige festival, not only once, but four times over the span of the weekend.

Ben Conciella, Founding member of Whistle Dixie said the event went well.

“We loved every minute of it- it’s one of the best festivals we have been to and cannot wait to do it again” said Ben Conicella

“From a musician’s point of view, we are so spoilt, from the amazing accommodation to a car and driver waiting for us every time we needed to go somewhere, we are so lucky to be able to be a part of such a great festival!”

“We have never played a festival quite like this and the people we met at our shows were so kind and grateful.”

The Broadbeach Country Music Festival will be held again next year with hopes for an even bigger line up of artists and expected attendee’s.
