Saturday the 2nd of September marked the first time Macintosh Island Park hosted the Food Truck Picnic.
The free event offered a fun filled afternoon of food, live music, and family fun.
Event organiser, Sandra Vaughn said the most recent event attracted thousands of people to the Main Beach park.
“Our aim is to bring our community together to enjoy our parklands, our sunny weather, live music and delicious street food,” Ms Vaughn said.
Ms Vaughn said the regular events encourage greater community ties amongst its people.
“Street food brings people together and it makes places out of spaces whilst turning strangers into friends.”
When scouting for the latest event’s location, McIntosh Island Park seemed like a no brainer for the event organiser.
“McIntosh Island Park is a hidden gem in the GC crown. Sandwiched between the beach and the highway, it offers some fantastic open spaces and even a few peacocks!” Ms Vaughn said.
“It’s close to a large local population, has great transport access & parking and is extremely visible,”
When it comes to the most popular dish, Gold Coast’s favourite dish isn’t much of a surprise.
“Our community is very diverse and whilst we aim to provide as diverse a food offering as we can, the burger often comes out king! Everyone loves a burger,” Ms Vaughn said.
Main Beach resident, Ray Isaac thinks the event is a wonderful way to spend a Saturday in the sun.
“It’s a great family event and I’m glad it’s in our local park, it doesn’t get used enough,” Mr Isaac said.
“Hopefully after the turnout today, they can run some more family friendly events in the park. As long as it doesn’t annoy the peacocks.”
The next Food Truck Picnic will be held at Damian Leeding Park in Oxenford on September 10th.
