Basketball star, Patrick Mills has expressed his interest in finishing  his sporting career in Australia, whether in basketball or not.

The San Antonio Spurs guard appeared last Thursday in Queen Street Brisbane, as part of a promotional tour for his new book series, Game Day!

Mills spoke about his position as a role model and commented on his possible return to the Australian sporting sphere.

“I’d like to return (to the NBL), but I’d actually like to come play rugby league for the Broncos,” Mr Mills said.

“That would be my dream.”

Mills discussed his responsibility as a representative of the Indigenous community of Australia.

“The most important thing is the next generation.”

“At the end of the day I’m only a little Indigenous boy who set out on this journey,” Mills said.

Mills was the first Indigenous Australian to win an NBA Championship as part of the San Antonia Spurs in 2014 and was also recently named as an ambassador for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, although he himself will not be participating.
