Gail Page Wins Hearts

NEEKAH STRICKLAND

Gail Page was on stage at Surf Parade for an hour set on the last afternoon of Blues on Broadbeach and she won over an audience that has seen a lot of blues stars this week-end.

As Gail’s band introduced her to the stage, a round of applause broke out for the humble artist.

The 52-year old blues and jazz performer resides in rural South Australia but often travels into Adelaide for gigs.

She first hit the music scene in 1993, where she joined a Sydney outfit called “The Mix” and they became the Sunday residential band at the Beachcomber Hotel.

Some of her other achievements include winning the Bluestar Peoples’ Choice Award 2007 for Best Australasian Instrumentalist – Piano/Keyboard and Producer of the Year in the 2007 Australian Blues Music Chain Awards.

These awards came after the release of her album “Colours That Run” in November 2007.

The mother of two’s career really took off after she became a finalist on Channel 9’s popular program ‘The Voice’ last year.

On Team Ricky, she was a strong contender in the popular music show and won the hearts of many Australian viewers.

Unfortunately, this was her only gig at the Blues on Broadbeach music festival so if you missed her, make sure you check out her music on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/nz/artist/gail-page/id324748715.
