On Friday 20th May, Alex Hahn & The Blue Riders will perform at the Blues on Broadbeach mall stage from 12:10pm.
Alex Hahn is known as “an emerging Blues star of Sydney’s thriving music scene” and she is carving out a niche as an Australian Blues diva.
Alex produced her debut album in 2013 called “The Wallflower” with seven songs backed by soul band, The Blue Riders.
She was born into a musician family, her father is a pianist and her mother is a singer in jazz music. Alex became a jazz singer, however she did not have much confidence in the genre.
In 2014, Alex was nominated for the NSW Emerging Creative Talent Awards and was awarded an Honorable Mention in the 2014 Unsigned Only Competition in Nashville.
Her voice is strong but also very soft. She makes the high notes beautifully but has the range to put power into the low notes.
The Orange Press said Alex is “a singer who generates the passion, insecurities, bruises and lion heart of truly iconic performers such as Billie Holiday, Janis Joplin and Etta James”.
At Blues on the Broadbeach Festival, you can hear her strong and beautiful songs as well as the Blue Riders awesome instrumental work.
