Activist group Generation Alpha pulled a creative stunt to protest against the Australian government’s environmental policies — staging an arrest of Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

The environmental activist group was protesting Tony Abbott’s stance on climate change, and the dredging plans in the Great Barrier Reef.

As part of the staged arrest, a Tony Abbott impersonator, dubbed ‘Bad Tony’, was stopped in the street by two children and arrested on crimes of ‘ecocide’.

As he was taken away, the fake Prime Minister angrily declared that all 217 friends of his on Twitter were going to find out about it.

Event organiser Ben Pennings said he was inspired to use children in the demonstration by President Obama’s speech at UQ yesterday, where he declared he wanted his two daughters to be able to experience the Great Barrier Reef in their lifetime.
