John Laws, also known as ‘The King of Talkback Radio’ will be broadcasting across Brisbane airwaves next month.
The 79-year-old has spent over 60 years in the industry and from Monday 6 October will take over every morning on community radio station Bay FM.
Bay FM Vice President and Marketing and Sales Manager Laraine Dillion said having John Laws on board will be the highlight of the year.
“John Laws will be broadcasting on Bay Fm [100.3FM] for two years,” she said.
“[Laws] will bring all sorts of listeners to Bay FM…especially broader members of the community and politicians.
“We will be the only station in Brisbane to broadcast Mr Laws [and] will be broadcasting before the Peter Dick show from 8:00am until 11:00am Monday to Friday.”
Perhaps John Laws might like to assess the “lay of the land” in the City before being “taken” in by those that will be at his door step …probably offering to yodel and serenade to him.
Some at least, and maybe many, will say the future is not in good hands and that lifestyle and liveability of Redlands are at risk.
Humbly, I suggest he at least looks over the posts and comments on the community based web site, Redlands2030.net. It might also give him some grist on which he might help lead and inform community debate on wide-ranging (local) issues, in line with his previous role in Sydney and beyond.
