Gamers around the world have eagerly awaited the next generation of consoles that will open doors to the virtual world of Minecraft.

In less than 24 hours Xbox One gamers will finally be able to experience the updated console’s version due for release on September 5.

The popular sandbox indie game by Mojang will release an updated version packed with sharper, brighter and more colourful features.

On top of the 16 million users that play on PC-based servers, Minecraft has an estimated 13 million users playing through Xbox Live.

New players will be able to purchase the game for $19.99, though Minecraft have offered a $4.99 upgrade to users who have purchased the game on the previous generation machines.

All DLC packages purchased on the Xbox 360 can be transferred to the old platforms for free.

Microsoft stated that players will be able to generate a world 36 times larger than previously possible on the old hardware.

Sony has announced Minecraft on the PlayStation 4 will be delayed as some issues have been encountered during the testing period.
