Two Australian monks have been accused of sexual and physical abuse of scholars at Catholic boarding school in Scotland.

Father Denis Alexander, who has been stripped of his priestly activities, is under investigation by police after the allegations. The second priest died in 2004.

The Catholic Church in Scotland apologised for the abuses through the Scottish Bishop.

Scottish Bishop Hugh Gilbert told the BBC the Catholic Church is working with the vulnerable adults so “the lessons can be learned and children can be fully protected”.

Father Alexander, who lives in Sydney, refused to confirm or decline the accusations after the BBC tried to interview him.
